The Disruptor

Disruptor (noun): a company that changes the way a traditional industry operates, especially in an innovative and effective way. 

You don't hear the word "disruptor" often used when it comes to education. That's because almost every school's academic philosophies, programs, and even interventions were created by people born over 100 years ago, and believe us, not much has changed since then. 

Meet the giants in the field of education and intervention:

• Horace Mann, John Dewey, and Maria Montessori, the founders of modern education, were born in 1796, and 1859, and 1870. 
• Orton-Gillingham founders, Samuel Orton and Anna Gillingham, were born in 1878 and 1879.
• Jean Piaget, "student-centered learning"  pioneer, was born in 1896.
• Kurt Lewin, pioneer in experiential and hands-on learning, was born in 1890.

The list goes on, and by the 1920's these giants in education had become and remain the established norms in their respective fields. 

In the 1920's, the Ford Model T was the established norm in the automotive industry. Do you still drive one?

We saw the problem too, so when we conceptualized The Rosemont Method™ we had a choice: we could go along with the status quo, or we could disrupt the education space. In other words, we could hop in that 1920 Model T with everyone else and roll down Education Lane, or we could create a school that was truly as limitless as the potential of each student that walked through our doors.
